Hyatt Hotels Corporation's brand continues to expand internationally with the opening of its first Canadian unit in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta.
The upcoming opening of the Hyatt Place Edmonton-West hotel (161 rooms) will soon reinforce the brand's portfolio. Launched in the aftermath of the 2005 acquisition of AmeriSuites Hotels, the Hyatt Place brand aims to attract business travellers in urban destinations. Mostly present across the US market, the brand has been accelerating property openings around the world in the last few years. In Europe, Hyatt Place currently operates two properties in Armenia, as well as two addresses close to the Amsterdam and London Heathrow airports.
According to data published by Hospitality ON, Hyatt Hotels Corporation ranked in the Top 15 of the largest hotel groups in terms of rooms as of January 2016, with a global portfolio of 640 hotels representing a total of 179,217 rooms.
