The ‘Stars of Christmas’ programme is an annual programme where staff and guests of Mandarin Orchard Singapore, a Meritus Hotel, are encouraged to pick a star from the hotel’s lobby and grant the wishes of underprivileged or chronically ill children with voluntary gifts.
Beneficiaries in 2012 include Club Rainbow (Singapore), Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer, TOUCH Community Services, Beyond Social Services, and Children’s Cancer Foundation. After the official ceremonial hanging of star, which took place on 3 December, and the charity luncheon held on 14 December where children from the various aid societies along with their siblings, parents, and caregivers, are guests of honour, the final celebration is a parade on Saturday, 15 December 2012, of Santas and Santarinas on Harley-Davidson bikes lining the street frontage of Mandarin Gallery before being flagged off together with The Helping Hand, to deliver hundreds of donated presents to the various children aid societies.
