Take Off

AccorLast June, Accor, the world’s leading hotel operator and market leader in Europe, named the winners of “Take Off!” the contest it launched last March at 32 schools in 9 countries. 250 students from universities, business schools and international hotel management schools entered the contest.

Summary _ This competition aims to strengthen bonds between Accor and these establishments, to open the group’s frontiers and stimulate in these young people the aspiration and motivation to join Accor after completing their courses. At the same time, Accor benefits from innovating ideas about Sustainable development._ In this first edition, candidates were invited to revolutionize the hotel experience by imagining all the stages of a totally sustainable stay, from the booking stage through to departure, for a customer in a capital city hotel. At each of the three stages of this digital and multimedia contest, candidates had to demonstrate inventiveness, photo and video editing skills, and the ability to convince both in writing and orally in order to obtain the highest opinion scores on the online voting site www.accortakeoff.com and then, from a jury._ The first prize was awarded to the group “Sustainably Yours” at IMHI-ESSEC, by a jury of hotel professionals. They have particularly innovated and developed a wide range of sustainable products._ The prize-giving ceremony was held last June at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, attended by Denis Hennequin, Chairman and CEO, Yann Caillère, President and Chief Operating Officer and Antoine Recher, Global Human Resources Officer. The winners took home a four-day stay at an Accor hotel in one of the following cities: Saint-Petersburg, Berlin, Athens, Marrakech or Lisbon._ Given the success of this first edition, with a total of 83 projects submitted and over 70.000 online votes, the Accor Group is keen to repeat the experience next year. This competition definitely reveals a wide diversity of talents and great competitive and entrepreneurship spirit. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn how to transform an idea into a long-term, operational and innovative project. The main goal for the future editions is to extend our communication tools to strengthen the links between the international schools and the Accor regional offices. It will allow Accor to increase the number of talented students noticed within the Group. For the next experiences, Accor will vary the topics every year aiming at targeting new conquering spirits!_ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ This brand-new challenge has brought freshness, innovation, imagination, and thoroughness for students as well as for the Accor group. “Take Off!” not only allows students to use and create their networks thanks to interactive tools (the website, the votes…) but also highlights Accor’s dynamism in the hospitality industry. Moreover, the challenge is such a powerful tool in encouraging attractiveness and in noticing future skilled partners. The huge benefit of an online competition is the possibility to aim at an international public without any border or frontiers.
