summary _ Since 2010, Accor has been offering its employees in France a basic skills training course known as "Hôtel à la lettre". This program has already trained 380 people._ This program is unique since it has been created especially for Accor and customized for hotels employees’ needs._ Hotel managers underlined that some employees had poor reading, writing and basic math skills, and real comprehension problems in their daily professional and personal lives. The "Hôtel à la lettre" learning program, created by Académie Accor and the France Human Resources Division in partnership with the French national agency against illiteracy (ANLCI), was designed to solve these problems._ "Hôtel à la lettre" starts with a personal diagnosis and continues with 50 hours of training on the job. This course is taught by illiteracy specialists and allows employees to acquire basic French language reading and writing skills and simple maths. At the end of the course, a final test assesses the progress made._ During the course, the employees learn to carry out actions of their professional and daily lives independently and efficiently: understand instructions, write professional documents, but also write out a check or fill-in an administrative form. This learning, based on the documents the employees daily use at the hotel or at home, allows them to acquire confidence in their skills and, for some of them, may be the first step on the road to a qualification._ "Hôtel à la lettre" meets the Group's commitment to promote the professional fulfilment of employees who are often cut-off from existing training programs, giving them the chance to advance._ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ "Hôtel à la lettre" is a unique program: -* Designed to learn, understand and act throughout a continuous process -* Customized for our hospitality functions, and for each employee -* Supported by the Managers and taught during working hours -* Focusing on employees who are often cut off from existing training programs
