The MICHELIN Guide continues its international expansion by announcing the selection of MICHELIN Keys for hotels in Spain.

Like the MICHELIN Stars awarded to restaurants, the MICHELIN Keys are now awarded to hotels that stand out for their unique concept, distinctive personality and exceptional level of service. This new distinction, awarded by the MICHELIN Guide inspection team, is designed to guide travellers towards unforgettable holiday experiences by highlighting the country's most outstanding establishments.

"The MICHELIN Guide has been accompanying travellers on their adventures for 124 years, and this new distinction marks a new chapter in its history. The MICHELIN Guide inspectors, who are on the ground throughout the year, have put together this unprecedented selection to share with the rest of the world the best places to stay in Spain. Each establishment awarded one, two or three MICHELIN Keys is supported by talented professionals." - Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides

Of the 97 hotels honoured, 5 were awarded three MICHELIN Keys, 12 were awarded two MICHELIN Keys and 80 were awarded one MICHELIN Key.

The MICHELIN Keys distinguish three levels of quality for hotels:

  • One MICHELIN Key: for a singular stay, where the establishment stands out for its unique character and personality, offering a different experience or being among the best in its category, with service to match.

  • Two MICHELIN Keys: for an exceptional stay, where the establishment is a remarkable place in every respect, combining charm, personality and considerable care in its upkeep. Its attractive design or notable architectural signature make it an exceptional place to stay, anchored in its local environment.

  • Trois Clefs MICHELIN: for an extraordinary stay, where everything is just wonderful. These hotels offer the ultimate in comfort, service, style and elegance. They are among the most remarkable and extraordinary in the world, constituting a destination in their own right where each stay remains engraved in the minds and hearts of travellers.
