Rocco Forte Hotels Villa Igiea

The Sicilian Railway Experience will link the group's two flagship sites: Villa Igiea and Verdura Resort.

Born from the collaboration between the hotel group and the Fondazione Ferrovie dello Stato, the "Sicilian train" will take its passengers on a journey through the history of the Mediterranean island. On board a 1920s train from the Fondazione's historical transport archives, passengers are able to take in UNESCO heritage sites such as the Scala dei Turchi and the Valle dei Templi.

The train departs from the centre of Palermo and the 'slow travel' experience lasts two hours, though it may be modified to fit the customer's needs. A luggage compartment, four carriages with original wooden seats and one carriage with leather seats make up the layout of the train.

The Sicilian Railway Experience has been designed for business summits, presentations and team-building trips. It is possible to book a local guide to accompany the passengers whilst they journey through the west of Sicily and a bartender to prepare cocktails during the trip.
