Minor Hotels has announced that Gonzalo Aguilar will take on the role of CEO for Europe and the Americas starting January 1, 2025.

He will succeed Ramón Aragonés, who is retiring from his executive position at the end of this year. Aragonés will remain with the company as a member of the Board of Directors and will serve as Non-Executive Vice Chairman.

“Ramón has dedicated his entire career to the hotel sector. Since joining the group, then known as NH Hotel Group, in 2009, he has been instrumental in transforming it into one of the leading hospitality groups in Europe and the Americas. He has demonstrated inspirational leadership, vision and tireless dedication throughout his tenure. Today, as we celebrate his tremendous legacy, we also extend our gratitude for his exceptional contributions to Minor Hotels.” - Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and President of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas

Gonzalo Aguilar joins Minor Hotels from Marriott, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Aguilar brings over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including roles as General Manager and various executive positions. His experience at Marriott includes overseeing the integration of AC Hotels and driving growth in the EMEA region. Aguilar began his career with Marriott in 1994 as a Restaurant Manager at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Colorado.

Aguilar will join Minor Hotels Europe & Americas on October 1 to begin a three-month transition period with Ramón Aragonés. This period is intended to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities and maintain continuity in the company’s strategic direction.

“Gonzalo’s deep understanding of the hospitality industry and his proven leadership will be instrumental in guiding and executing Minor Hotels Europe & Americas’ strategic business plan. His invaluable insights into the multibrand and asset-light hotel space in Europe and the Americas will set Minor Hotels on the path of continued success.” - Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and President of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas
