Accor’s midscale brand, Mercure, has announced the opening of the latest addition to its British portfolio.
Mercure Paignton Hotel has opened its doors along the seafront of the Devon town of Paignton. The four-star property boasts 161 guestrooms, ranging from double to Privilege rooms.
Its design is inspired by the golden age of The English Riviera. Its interiors sport a calming colour palette, as well as dark wooden and brass features, and vintage local graphics.
The Latitude 50 restaurant will serve up a locally inspired menu as part of its all-day dining experience.
Additional amenities include two modulable events spaces capable of hosting up to 30 attendees and a two-tiered Mediterranean-style terrace with an al fresco bar.
Overlooking the town’s promenade and beach, Mercure Paignton Hotel offers guests easy access to the surrounding English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
The property is owned by Fragrance Group and operated by RBH Hospitality. Later this year, a second joint venture between Accor and the owner will see the opening of an ibis Styles property in Paignton.
The Mercure Paignton Hotel is a hugely exciting project and one which promises a new age of prosperity for the area. In addition to enhancing Paignton’s appeal for visitors from across the Southwest region and the UK, the hotels are set to deliver many benefits for the local economy, such as a boost for Riviera tourism and employment for local people.
