Le Richemond

Jumeirah Group has expanded its presence in Europe following the acquisition of a hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva. The luxury hotel group's European portfolio now stands at five properties. This transaction fits into Jumeirah's ambition to continue its international expansion in premium destinations.

Le Richemond thus becomes the first Swiss hotel owned by the Dubai Holding subsidiary. The legendary hotel was founded in 1875 and is located in the heart of Geneva's business district. The shores of Lake Geneva as well as luxurious boutiques lie within easy reach of the hotel.

The Art Deco hotel has 109 rooms and 22 suites and offers views of Lake Geneva as well as the peaks of Mont Blanc. It will undergo extensive renovations to reposition and elevate its guest experience.

In addition, Jumeirah plans to introduce its wellness and fitness concepts, as well as unique new dining concepts to Le Richemond.

The hotel joins the group's European portfolio alongside the Carlton Tower Jumeirah and the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in London, the Capri Palace Jumeirah on the island of Capri, and the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in Majorca.

Jumeirah's ambition is to become one of the top five luxury hotel brands in the world. To date, it has 26 properties in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

This is an important acquisition for Jumeirah as it marks our entry into Switzerland, offering our guests a prestigious address within one of Geneva's premier institutions, while also serving as a gateway to world-class ski resorts. Le Richemond is a legendary property with 140 years of history and an exceptional heritage, and we are committed to preserving this heritage as we redevelop the hotel. We are seeking the best architects and designers to create an exceptional hotel within the Jumeirah portfolio, and we are confident that the revival of this property as a new ultra-luxury hotel in Geneva after the completion of the renovation (currently scheduled for 2025), will support the city's tourism economy, attracting national and international visitors for business and leisure. As the gateway to the mountains of Europe, Geneva is of strategic importance to us as we seek to diversify our portfolio in major cities with both summer and winter tourism offerings.
