An international hotel brand is set to establish a presence in Esbjerg, Denmark, as Heimstaden and Core Hospitality sign a 15-year agreement for the lease and management of the “A Place to” hotel.
The property, which originally launched in November 2021, will undergo expansion from 117 to 214 guest rooms and rebrand under a major global hotel chain.
“It’s a big day for Heimstaden and for Esbjerg. We have always aimed to expand the hotel and attract a known hotel chain to the city to meet the demand. I would like to highlight our great cooperation with Esbjerg municipality to make this ambition come to life and I’m proud to hand over the operations to Core Hospitality, who will surely improve the hotel even further and contribute to Esbjerg positively.” - Helge Krogsbøl, Co-CEO of Heimstaden
The hotel, designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), has quickly become a recognized feature of Esbjerg’s skyline, known for its design, views of the North Sea, and the Plates restaurant on the 17th floor. The property's success has led Heimstaden to convert 97 apartments into additional hotel rooms to meet increasing demand.
“This is a big deal for us at Core Hospitality as we finally get a hotel in Esbjerg – the city has been on our wish list for a long time and to take over an existing hotel that fits one of our partners’ brands makes it an ideal entry into the market. The hotel is well managed and already has strong leadership through Helle Tingberg, who we look very much forward to working with to develop the hotel further.” - Peter Haaber, CEO of Core Hospitality
Core Hospitality, will take over management of the hotel in the second half of 2024. The rebranding, including the announcement of the international hotel chain, is expected in September 2024, with the full conversion anticipated to be completed by early 2025. This development aims to enhance Esbjerg’s appeal as a key destination on Denmark’s western coast, attracting a broader range of travelers.
