Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa is now the first boutique hotel in Greece, based on the demanding standards of the "Boutique Hotel" classification instated by Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.

The property, located on the Santorini Island, opened its doors in 2016 as the latest addition to the portfolio of Metaxas Group of Companies. Erected in a privileged setting, the property offers a direct view over the sunset of Oia. It includes 44 suites and villas, four outdoor pools, a 300 m² spa with indoor swimming pool and a restaurant named Alios Ilios.

Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa has managed to distinguish itself due to its "strong" character after only two years in business. By harmoniously combining different periods of traditional Cycladic architecture with modern decor, the resort offers guests a "journey in time". The multiculturally-inspired design, encompassing discreet luxury details, is blending local elements and international aesthetics.

Placing emphasis on high-quality service, the hotel has also been recognized for the spheric design of its design, which is reflected through all aspects of its operation, thus composing a complete stay experience.

The Chief Executive Officer of Metaxas Group of Companies, Andreas Metaxas elaborates:

"The certification of Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa as the first Boutique Hotel in Greece brings a sense of joy, but also a great sense of responsibility for our Group. At first, joy, because our efforts to create a fantastic stay experience that combines the traditional with the modern, the “journey back in time” with the contemporary luxury, have been recognized by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. Additionally, we feel a great responsibility to maintain and further develop this high level of personalized service, offering our guests the authentic experience that they desire.”

About the "Boutique Hotel" certification:

This classification is a new initiative of the Greek Chamber of Commerce for the recognition, certification and promotion of small hotels. The certification is granted after two control phases to upscale and midscale hotels, with a capacity of fewer than 60 rooms, which are characterized by distinctive architectural and decorative concept and offer innovative facilities and services.

As of January 1, 2017, the total supply in Greece consisted of 10,111 hotels for 415,372 rooms. The chain supply, historically very little present, has clearly increased with a gain of 2 119 additional rooms to reach a penetration rate of 15.1%, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
