InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the promotion of long-serving employee Michael Glover to the post of Chief Financial Officer. Effective 20th March 2023, he will replace Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson in the role and become an Executive Director of IHG’s Board and a member of the group’s Executive Committee.

Michael Glover first joined IHG in 2004. In the intervening 18 years, he has moved up from the ranks of the hotel group from his initial position of Vice-President Account Management. Two years later, he become Vice-President Information Delivery. His time with the group has taken him from Atlanta to Shanghai, via Denham.

Between 2010 and 2013, he was VP Finance for Operations in the Americas before being promoted to SVP and CFO for Greater China. In 2015, he moved to the UK when he was made SVP and Group Controller. In his most recent position, before becoming the group’s CFO, Glover was CFO – Americas & Head of Commercial Finance.

Prior to his adventure with IHG, he began his career with Halliburton as Manager of Information Delivery in 1995, a post which he occupied for nearly 8 years. In 2002, he moved to Waste Management where he held the position of Point of Sale Programme Manager. Michael Glover has a BBA Finance and Accounting from Baylor University and is a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Oklahoma.
