InterContinental Hotels Group’s CEO, Elie Maalouf, announced plans to launch a new midscale conversion brand. The yet unnamed brand is expected to occupy the three-star segment.
The announcement came during the group’s second-quarter earnings call, which confirmed IHG’s positive start to 2023.
The new brand will target a niche in the market that the group’s current portfolio does not cover. Maalouf stated his belief that the brand can be scaled quickly and aims to grow its offering to over 500 hotels over the course of the next decade.
According to the CEO, more than 100 hotels have already expressed “definitive interest” in the new brand.
