Hyatt Hotels Corporation and MEININGER Hotels are expanding their presence in Germany with several new projects in key cities. These developments highlight the importance of Germany as a strategic market for both hotel groups, focusing on both urban and leisure offerings.
Hyatt’s return to Hamburg is marked by the planned opening of four new hotels by 2026. The portfolio will include the Hyatt Regency Hamburg Hafencity, Hyatt Centric Altstadt Hamburg, and two Me and All Hotels—one on Reeperbahn and another in St. Georg. These additions are part of Hyatt’s broader growth strategy to increase its capacity in Germany by 30% over the next three years. The recent acquisition of Me and All Hotels, a lifestyle brand, complements Hyatt's existing offerings and supports its plans for expansion.
MEININGER Hotels, meanwhile, has announced the development of a new property in Kiel, scheduled to open in 2027. Situated in the KoolKiel development, the hotel will offer 177 rooms across 12 floors, with accommodations suitable for a wide range of travelers, including double, triple, and family-sized rooms.
“We are excited to add Kiel to our MEININGER Hotels portfolio. The city combines maritime tradition, vibrant culture, and growing tourism potential. With its ideal location and mix of history and nature, Kiel fits perfectly with our hybrid hotel concept, which appeals to both adventurers and families.” - Ajit Menon, CEO of MEININGER Hotels
The KoolKiel project is being built with a focus on sustainability, featuring CO2-neutral hydrogen technology, in line with MEININGER's commitment to environmentally conscious operations.
“At MEININGER, we integrate sustainability into our core business. We are working on improving our processes, products, and services, with a focus on waste management, biodiversity, reducing CO2 emissions, diversity, and inclusion. This also includes choosing the most sustainable construction options for our new properties – which is the case with KoolKiel,” - Ajit Menon, CEO of MEININGER Hotels
The new MEININGER Hotel in Kiel is part of a collaboration between MEININGER Hotels and the ADORE Group, a renowned developer of modern and sustainable real estate projects.
“The partnership with MEININGER Hotels is an important milestone for the KoolKiel project. MEININGER’s innovative and hybrid hotel concept fits perfectly with our vision of a sustainable, urban living space. We are excited to collaborate with a forward-thinking partner who shares our values regarding sustainability and modern urban development,” - Markus Aluta, CEO of the ADORE Group.
Both Hyatt and MEININGER are focused on growing their presence in Germany, with an emphasis on urban expansion and sustainable practices to meet the needs of modern travelers.
