The Cosentino family office has signed an agreement with Hyatt Hotels Corporation to establish the first 5-star international hotel brand in Mojácar, Almería.
The new hotel, part of the Macenas Mediterranean Resort, will operate under the Destination by Hyatt brand, while the agreement was executed with the support of the consultancy firm Horwath HTL. Construction, which involves an investment exceeding €40 million, is planned to start by the end of 2024, with completion expected by 2026.
“it is a great satisfaction to have the support of the Macenas Mediterranean Resort hotel project from a brand with the international positioning of Hyatt . This hotel will break with the traditional seasonality of the area with services and facilities for gastronomy, sport, health and leisure, both its own and those of the resort, which will respond to the demands of holiday and business tourism .” - Álvaro de la Haza , director of the Cosentino family office.
This development is significant for Almería, marking the town’s first 5-star hotel and the first international brand in the province. Designed by GCA Architects, the hotel will feature sustainable Mediterranean architecture.
The hotel will focus on luxury holiday tourism and events, aiming to attract visitors throughout the year and contribute to reducing the seasonality of tourism in the area. The project is anticipated to create around 110 jobs, offering both direct and indirect employment opportunities, and supporting the local economy.
In addition to its upscale accommodations, the hotel will provide access to a range of premium amenities, including an 18-hole golf course designed with environmentally friendly practices.
This partnership is part of Hyatt’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe, where the Destination by Hyatt brand is already present in locations such as Ibiza, Sardinia, and Scotland.
