Hilton has announced the opening of two new hotels in Portugal, strengthening its presence in the region, as well as its expansion with two hotels in Iceland.

The DUO Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton, and the DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Azores cater to both city explorers and island adventurers.

DUO Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton:
Located in the Cais do Sodré neighborhood, the DUO Hotel Lisbon features 75 rooms. The hotel’s design blends a 19th-century building with a modern structure, connected by a courtyard that hosts many events. Guests can enjoy Portuguese cuisine at the Novo Mundo restaurant and pastries at The Voyage pastry shop. The hotel also includes a bar and an urban courtyard.

“We’re excited to introduce these two fantastic hotels to Portugal, where we have plans to more than double our presence. With more than 30 million visitors last year, Portugal remains an increasingly popular destination for travellers thanks to its rich heritage, vibrant cities and beautiful landscapes. With our second Curio Collection by Hilton property in the capital, and our first hotel in the Azores, we’re thrilled to further expand our range of properties and welcome more guests across Portugal,” -  David Kelly, senior vice president, Continental Europe, Hilton.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Azores:
Situated on São Miguel Island, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Azores offers access to attractions like the Gorreana Tea Factory and Lagoa das Sete Cidades. The hotel has 101 rooms and suites, a rooftop bar, pool, and wellness space. Guests can dine at the Frondoso Restaurant & Bar, or visit the Mistico Rooftop Bar & Pool. Furthermore, both hotels are part of Hilton Honors.

Hilton Expands in Iceland:

Hilton also announced the addition of two properties in Iceland, including its first internationally branded countryside hotel in the North of Iceland.

Akureyri "Skáld" Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton:
Scheduled to open in summer 2025, the Akureyri "Skáld" Hotel will be located on Hafnarstræti street in Akureyri. The hotel will feature 70 rooms, a lounge and lobby bar, an all-day restaurant, and a social club concept. It is strategically situated for exploring the Diamond Circle and Arctic Circle.

“Iceland is an incredibly popular travel destination and we are excited to expand our portfolio of properties in Reykjavik, as well as bring the first internationally branded hotel to the Icelandic countryside in Akureyri. Hilton’s lifestyle brands have consistently generated opportunities for growth in European markets and, together with owners like Bohemian Hotels ehf., we are excited to further establish our presence in Iceland.” - Nick Smart, vice president, development, UK, Ireland & Nordics, Hilton

New Property in Reykjavík:
Set to open in spring 2026, this new hotel in Brietartún, Reykjavík will be located near the Freemasons' Hall and the Hlemmur area. The 170-key property will emphasize sustainability and innovative design, providing an Icelandic hospitality experience.

These additions will enhance Hilton's existing portfolio in Iceland, which includes the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre, Iceland Parliament Hotel, and Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.
