easyHotel is proceeding with its plan to double its hotel portfolio by 2026 and has announced a positive business review for the beginning of 2022. To this end, three new French appointments will strengthen the management team under the CEO.
The arrival of Karim Malak as CEO in December 2021 signalled an acceleration of the chain's development in early 2022. Results are already exceeding 2019 levels (pre-pandemic).
This acceleration is explained by the demand for weekend getaways, as well as the rescheduling of events that had been postponed. Current inflation is being felt by consumers and is contributing to the increase in demand for cheaper overnight stays.
easyHotel's revenue per room is also increased. The chain has announced increases of 70% in April, 50% in March and 20% in February, compared to the same period in 2019. It is positioning itself to benefit from the 'holiday close to home' trend and therefore expects 10% growth in bookings already made for the coming summer, versus summer 2019.
The chain plans to expand its portfolio of hotels and rooms. In France, the opening of a 208-room hotel near Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport will be followed by a second hotel in Aubervilliers, scheduled for early 2023.
Openings are also planned elsewhere in Europe. A new hotel in Dublin (160 rooms) and a franchised hotel in Madrid (230 rooms) will strengthen easyHotel's portfolio.
A further 2,400 rooms have been secured across the globe for the chain's development over the next four years.
It's fantastic to have started the year so well. It reinforces our confidence in the suitability of easyHotel’s offer as we are showing growth surpassing pre-Covid levels.
Karim Malak, CEO of easyHotel
