Club Med benefitted from the upturn in international travel and the popularity of leisure tourism and posted record operating profit in H1 2023.
For the first time, Club Med has posted half-year sales in excess of €1 billion. The group generated €1.061 billion in the first half of 2023, an increase of 32% on H1 2022 and 20% on the same period in 2019. Finally, its operating profit totalled €159 million.
The positive trend looks set to continue, with bookings for the second half of 2023 up 6% on 2022 and 21% on 2019.
In an interview with AFP, Club Med chairman Henri Giscard d'Estaing spoke of the possibility of opening up the group's capital to minority strategic partners in order to strengthen its development and growth potential. However, Fosun will remain Club Med's majority shareholder.
According to Giscard d'Estaing, 97% of Club Med properties now either fit into the upscale or upper-upscale segments.
In addition, current consumer enthusiasm for the leisure tourism sector would seem to have played a role in the exceptional half-year experienced by the company specialising in all-inclusive holidays.
