The IHG Group has recorded a +0.3% growth in its hotel portfolio in 2020, seeing a lower development than the previous year. However, the group is strengthening its offering in many markets, particularly in Europe.

After a quite fast development sequence (5.4% in 2019), InterContinental Hotels Group has continued its expansion, although keeping a quite stable supply, with +0.3% new keys in 2020, or 2,473 additional rooms.
The British group, which has 886,036 rooms worldwide, had to react to the strategy of some of its property owner partners such as Services Properties Trust. The latter chose to go independent and build up a portfolio of 100,000 rooms in just a few months.
In 2020, the group with 71% franchised hotels continued its development, especially with the fastest global expansion ever recorded by IHG: voco Hotels. This brand in the premium segment passed the milestone of 50 hotels signed and opened in more than 20 countries around the world on all continents.
IHG has also strengthened its portfolio in Europe with the development of Holiday Inn Express, the group's largest brand, which already counts 2,900 hotels around the world, with more than 680 openings planned in the coming years.
