Owner of Malmaison, Marylebone Warwick Balfour is to pay 92 million euros to acquire Hotel du Vin. This seven-strong hotel chain is well established in the southern half of the UK. MWB will manage the chain alongside its Malmaison brand, located in cities including Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds and London, giving it a total of 15 properties. This figure includes two hotels under development, making it the biggest boutique hotel operator in the UK. MWB is supported by the Bank of Scotland Corporate to finance the acquisition and to provide more funds to enlarge hotel business. The two operations will be separated, with Hotel du Vin focusing on cathedral and university towns while Malmaison concentrates on larger cities.
