Virgin Hotels will have a slice of the Big Apple

Virgin Hotels, the latest venture of the Richard Branson's group, has signed a deal with The Lam Group to manage a 300-room New York property on the northwest corner of 29th street and Broadway.

The neighborhood is known as NoMad (North of Madison Square Park) and the hotel is a newly built property expected to open in 2016 with 300 guestrooms, meeting spaces and multiple food and beverage venues.This is the second announcement for the Virgin Hotels brand agfter the first Chicago property scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2014."Virgin's 60 million global customers can't get enough of New York City, and we hope to welcome them all with our trademark style, humor, innovation, and friendly customer service," Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal said in a release."As a newcomer to the lifestyle concept, we spent years considering many brands and operators and feel we have found a perfect partner in Virgin," said Lam Group founder and CEO John Lam.Virgin Group founder Richard Branson said: "At long last, the city that never sleeps will get a beautiful and irresistible Virgin Hotel to play, eat, work, mingle, and yes, even to sleep."
