Swissôtel Hotels pursues Chinese expansion

Swissôtel has signed a management agreementwith Shaanxi Puyu Industrial Co., Ltd for a hotel in the aerospace industrial base of Xi'an city, Shaanxi Province, China. The hotel is expected to open its doors in 2016.

Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts has announced the signing of a management contract with Shaanxi Puyu Industrial Co., Ltd for a hotel in Xi'an in China's Shaanxi Province. Swissôtel Xi'an will offer 350 guestrooms, four restaurants, function and banqueting space, and a spa at the center of China's second national civil aerospace industrial base. Both the base and the hotel are to be completed in 2016.Once completed, the aerospace base project is expected to attract 300,000 residences and over 30 medium to large scale businesses, so the hotel will be meeting a sharp growth in demand. In addition to demand due to business travel upon the base's completion, Xi'an offers access to many historical sites, with a history of over 3,000 years, including the famed Terracotta Army.According to Meinhard Huck, President of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts: "This is a welcome addition to our current portfolio in China, and will complement our upcoming projects in Chengdu, Changsha and Sanya. Xi'an is a strategic step in our plans and put us on track with our goals to expand in emerging markets. This partnership with Shaanxi Puyu Industrial Co., Ltd is timely and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship".
