Marriott International continues to grow in Spain

Marriott International Group has announced the launch of the JW Marriott luxury brand in Madrid.

Located in the "Plaza de Canalejas", the future JW Marriott Madrid hotel is expected to open in 2022. It will be developed by the real estate investment company Millenium Hotels Real Estate, which focuses on four- and five-star hotel assets, under its lease agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of Belagua.

We are delighted with the acquisition of this spectacular, historical asset and to announce that it will become part of the iconic JW Marriott brand and the first JW Marriott hotel in Spain.

This property will perfectly demonstrate Millenium Hotels’ investment focus to acquire incredible properties to become the very best luxury hotels in prime areas of major cities, operated by the finest brands. In this case, the hotel is in an extraordinary location in Plaza de Canalejas, one of the most exclusive areas of Madrid, with an even brighter future ahead as one of the capital’s leisure, cultural, and culinary centers.

In addition, the central location of the JW Marriott Madrid hotel will offer guests the opportunity to explore the city's main cultural attractions, including the three iconic museums: the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. The "Galeria Canalejas", with more than 40 stores, will also be located in the immediate vicinity of the establishment. The future hotel will also be a 20-minute drive from Madrid-Barajas International Airport.

This incredible city is home to iconic architecture, an enviable culinary scene as well as stunning parks and botanical gardens, and the new JW Marriott Madrid is located in the heart of it all.

JW Marriott encourages guests to be mindful and present, and we believe the brand is particularly suited to today’s luxury traveller who seeks enriching, rejuvenating escapes paired with rich culture and exceptional service.

The design of the hotel will be led by local architects Arvo Arquitectura de Juan, and the interiors by the Madrid team of the Rockwell Group. Thus, the restored establishment is expected to offer 139 rooms, including two floors reserved for suites, all with outdoor terraces. The hotel will also have a lobby bar, restaurant and wellness area.

In Palma de Mallorca, the Concepció by Nobis hotel will open on June 1. The property will be operated by the Swedish hotel company Nobis Hospitality Group, which is a member of "Design Hotels", a brand of Marriott International.

The 31-room hotel is housed in a building dating back to the 16th century and is the eighth establishment of Nobis Hospitality Group, which currently operates seven other hotels.
