Following the recent appointment of Robert van der Graaf as Director Development DACH, and the transformation of its Development Team in Northern Europe, IHG announces further key appointments in the region.
Martin Bowen steps down as Head of Development DACH
After 23 years of service at IHG, Martin Bowen decided to step down as Head of Development DACH. As a key IHG representative in the German-speaking markets, he has built for the company a strong portfolio in Germany of almost 100 hotels open and over 40 in the pipeline.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe, commented:
During his time at IHG, Martin has shaped our business in the DACH markets immensely and I am very thankful for his dedication and service. He is highly valued among colleagues and owners alike and his expertise and counsel will be missed. With his decision to step down, it was now the right time to align our Development function with the Northern Europe Division, especially with Germany as a global priority market.
Miguel Martins promoted to Head of Development Northern Europe
In this newly created role, Miguel Martins will be responsible for the strategic growth of all IHG brands in the region, all segments included, through managed and franchised deal structures. About this appointment, Willemijn Geels added:

We see strong growth potential for our brands across the portfolio with Kimpton and InterContinental in the luxury space, our new voco brand in upscale and of course the continuing success of the Holiday Inn Brand Family which is known around the world.
