The IHG Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio is expected to open more than 50 hotels in 24 countries this year, from Rome to Riyadh through Melbourne and Majorca. IHG Hotels & Resorts currently has over 400 hotels and 100,000 roomsn it is thus one of the largest operator in the industry.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts continues to open new doors
Ten properties are scheduled to open in 2022. After openings in Barcelona and Azerbaijan in 2021, the brand will settle in Rome. The InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace was designed in the neo-Renaissance style in the early 1900s and originally hosted Rome-based ambassadors. It will be restored for world travellers and city dwellers.
The brand will expand its presence in the Middle East with the opening of two new resorts in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
In Australia, the former Continental Hotel on the outskirts of Melbourne will undergo a refurbishment when it opens as the InterContinental Mornington Peninsula in Sorrento.
The brand is also set to land in Khao Yai in Thailand, Appi Kogen Resort in Japan, and Hangzhou Liangzhou, Chongli and Zhengzhou in Greater China.
Since acquiring the Kimpton brand in 2015, IHG has embarked on its global expansion, establishing operations in Europe, Asia and Greater China. The brand plans to open seven hotels throughout 2022, following recent openings in Paris, Bangkok and New Orleans.
The Kimpton Margot Sydney will offer a range of dining experiences, building on Kimpton's heritage of popular local restaurants.
In Southeast Asia, the brand plans to launch the Kimpton Naranta Bali Resort in Indonesia, as well as the recently opened Kimpton Samui, the first resort in the region, and a property in Suzhou, Greater China.
Scheduled for completion in late 2022, Kimpton Roatan in the Caribbean will offer access to coral reefs and the surrounding jungle canopy.
Hotel Indigo continues its global growth trajectory
Hotel Indigo, IHG's boutique hotel brand is growing fast and plans to expand into 26 destinations in the coming year. The brand is expected to continue its growth in the Americas, with openings planned in New Orleans, Omaha, Vancouver, Washington, St. Louis, Galapagos, Lima, Tulum and Baja. In addition, three hotels are scheduled to open in New York City. After new properties in Serbia and France last year, Hotel Indigo is set to welcome four new hotels in Europe and the Middle East with Vienna, Batumi in Georgia, Baku in Azerbaijan and Jabal Akhdar in Oman.
Openings are planned in Asian destinations - Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Karuizawa and Inuyama in Japan, Saigon in Vietnam, Bintan in Indonesia, Alishan in Taiwan, Greater China, and Anji, Hangzhou Xianghu Lake and Xiamen Haicang in Greater China.
Vignette Collection gains momentum after launch
Vignette Collection, the new family of hotels in the IHG Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, is positioned in urban and sought-after resort locations. Following the brand's launch in August last year and the opening of its very first hotel, Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley, in December, Vignette Collection is set to welcome new hotels in 2022 - Sindhorn Midtown in Bangkok, Grand Hotel Wien in Vienna, Austria, and Penina Resort & Golf and Dona Filipa Hotel, both in the Algarve, Portugal. Within the next ten years, IHG aims to have the Vignette Collection attract more than 100 properties worldwide.
