IHG has shown that it is dedicated to pursuing its Indigo brand's development strategy of establishing itself in major US cities with the announcement of their third Indigo hotel in Chicago.
The Hotel Indigo Chicago-Millenium Park hotel will be housed in what used to be the Federal Life Building. The 101-year old building will undergo an estimated $20 million renovation.Renovations are to be extensive, while still preserving its historic features, including the original white enamel terra cotta. It is scheduled to open in spring 2014.Four more storeys will be added, bringing the hotel to 16 stories with 156 guestrooms. Amenities will include a restaurant managed by celebrity chef David Burke, and a rooftop bar.Hotel Indigo has 50 establishments in its global pipeline, its international portfolio expected to double to 100 properties within the next three to five years.
