Best Western International has announced that it has signed a management agreement with a hotel in Yangon, Myanmar, bringing its presence in the ASEAN countries to nine out of ten, with growth expectations in the near future.
Best Western International has announced that it will be entering Myanmar's emerging market, when it takes over management for the Green Hill Hotel. With its Myanmar debut, Best Western will also be the first US brand in the country.According to Vice President of International Operations for Asia and the Middle East, Glenn de Souza, Myanmar is one of the "hottest" hotel markets right now. Increasing demand will necessitate strong management skills to optimize existing supply, and new supply. De Souza highlights the importance of maintaining a strong relationship for future partnerships, as the group is a good fit for this market."We are confident that Best Western International's proven track record in the Asian hotel market, along with our highly skilled management and staff, will enable the Green Hill Hotel to not only increase occupancy and average rates, but also broaden its geographical guest mix".The Green Hill Hotel is only 6 months old, with 189 guestrooms in the center of Yangon, Myanmar's largest city. The hotel highlights modernity, with a contemporary decor and restaurant. IT caters to business travelers as well, with meetings facilities.This new management deal means that Best Western now has a presence in nine of the ten countries of the ASEAN region.
