The brand's 14th hostel is opening in Vienna in place of the current Meininger Hotel Wien Hauptbahnhof. The German brand has two other locations in Vienna open since 2011.
The future St Christopher Inn will open in spring 2022 marking the arrival of the British group in Austria. Beds & bars has come a long way since its first hostel opening in West London in 2000, . The rebranding comes with the change of ownership in 2021, after D&S Investments Group buys the property. The property will offer approximately 260 beds in 68 rooms.
As with the group's other hostels, the bar on the first floor will be open to all guests.
With a hotel RevPAR of €16.40 excluding VAT in January 2022 (source MKG_destination), the Viennese market is not the most dynamic in Europe in terms of post-crisis recovery. However, the investor and operator are betting on the medium term and on the city's attractiveness to leisure guests, with a priority focus on young people and groups.
