The luxury lifestyle brand is opening its exclusive new Edinburgh hotel in three progressive steps from June to autumn 2022.
Virgin Hotels Edinburgh will boast 222 rooms and suites, ranging from 23-75 m², once fully opened as well as numerous in-house eateries for guest’s F&B needs.
From now, 54 rooms and several restaurants and cafes, including the hotel’s flagship restaurant and bar, are open to hotel guests. These will open to the general public on 14th June. The final phase of the opening is forecast for autumn this year and will see the opening of the remaining rooms and suites as well as the rest of the rest of the eateries and the special event venue. The flagship restaurant, Commons Club, will be under the charge of Edinburgh-born Executive Chef, Steven Wilson.
Opening in the landmark India Buildings in Edinburgh’s Old Town, the hotel’s design is the work of a collaboration between Virgin Hotels and Scottish architect studio Four-by-Two. Notable aspects of the original building will be preserved in respect of the city’s cultural heritage.
Decorations for the hotel come courtesy of Visto Artwork who have specially created pieces inspired by Scotland and its people. Guests will be able to sign up to a loyalty programme called The Know, this will get them access to room upgrades, member rates, special events and a complimentary cocktail hour in Commons Club. Members will also have the chance to use Lucy, an app that can be used to check in prior to arrival and serves as a key for their rooms.
Sister company Virgin Start Up will help provide products from local businesses that are part of its start-up initiative. Food, drink, clothing and skincare will be available for purchase from a centrally located honesty bar.
