Radisson Hotel Group has announced plans to open a 180-room hotel as part of Oxford United Football Club’s proposed new stadium development. The hotel, which will be located within the Triangle site in Kidlington, is subject to planning approval and will be an integral part of the broader sports and entertainment complex.

Among the group’s recent expansions in the UK, The Medlock at Manchester City’s Etihad Campus has also recently been announced, further reinforcing Radisson’s commitment to integrating hospitality with major sporting landmarks.

More than half of the hotel’s rooms will offer views of the pitch, providing guests with a stadium experience. Designed with a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic, the interiors will incorporate natural materials and a calming color palette. The property will also include a ground-floor restaurant, offering a space for guests and visitors to dine and socialize before or after matches and events.

“We are proud to have been chosen as the hotel partner for this very exciting and forward-thinking development. The Radisson brand is the perfect choice for a project focused on sustainable living, and we look forward to enhancing the guest experience for visitors to the stadium.” - Adela Cristea, Vice President, Business Development UK, Ireland & Nordics at Radisson Hotel Group

Economic and community benefits

The development is expected to create nearly 1,000 jobs, supporting the local economy and enhancing the area’s hospitality and entertainment infrastructure. A key focus of the project is sustainability, with the inclusion of solar panels, a low-carbon energy supply, and improved public transport connections. The stadium’s proximity to Oxford Parkway train station will provide convenient access to Oxford city centre and beyond.

A key addition to the Oxford United Stadium project

The proposed stadium, set to replace the club’s current home at Kassam Stadium, will have a 16,000-seat capacity and will be designed as an all-electric, low-carbon venue, making it one of the most environmentally sustainable mid-sized stadiums in the UK. The site will also feature a 1,000-capacity conference and exhibition centre, as well as bars, restaurants, and entertainment and fitness facilities.

Expanding Radisson’s UK presence

This project is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s growing presence in the UK and Ireland, where the group currently operates or has under development nearly 80 hotels. The Oxford United stadium hotel joins a series of Radisson-branded properties connected to major UK sports venues, including the rebranded Radisson RED at Twickenham Stadium and planned developments at Edgbaston Cricket Ground and Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

The planning application for the Oxford United stadium project is currently under review by Cherwell District Council, with a decision expected in the coming months.

A project in partnership with Cycas Hospitality

While the new hotel belongs to Radisson, its management has been entrusted to Cycas Hospitality, strengthening the group's presence in the UK market and its ties with the American hotel group. Craig Patterson, Development Director of Cycas Hospitality, is delighted:

"Continuing our growth with our partners at Oxford United and Radisson Hotel Group to open this hotel within a thoroughly modern, purpose-built sporting centre and community landmark is just one of our exciting updates for the year ahead, and we can’t wait to open the doors of the hotel and stadium to the local community next year."
