Two new divisional directors at Belmond

Belmond has announced the appointment of two divisional directors. Christian Boyens will join the company as Vice-President & Divisional Director of Southern Europe and Iain Langridge has been promoted to Vice-President & Divisional Director of Northern Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. These roles result from the recent restructuring of the company, with the emergence of the two new aforementioned divisions.

Based in Milan, Christian Boyens will oversee the activities and management of the Southern Europe division, beginning 23rd January 2023. This division encompasses Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and includes properties such as Splendido, A Belmond Hotel in Portofino, Caruso, A Belmond Hotel in Ravello, Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel in Venice, Reid's Palace, A Belmond Hotel in Madeira, and La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel in Majorca. In this role, he will also be responsible for raising the excellence of service and the attractiveness of the brand.

Christian Boyens started in the hotel business in 1997 as a management apprentice at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg. From 2000, he spent 11 years in the United States working for Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica and The Peninsula Beverly Hills. In 2011, he was appointed General Manager of the Ritz Paris. He held this position for 8 years, which included the overseeing of the closure, renovation, and repositioning of the property. Prior to joining Belmond, Christian Boyens was Director of Operations - Urban Hotels at LVMH Hotel Management between 2019 and 2023. In this capacity, he oversaw the opening of Cheval Blanc Paris.

Following his promotion, Iain Langridge will be responsible for the operations and management of the new Northern Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific division. His responsibilities will include The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel in London, Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel in Cape Town, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, A Belmond Hotel in Oxfordshire, three safari lodges in Botswana, Napasai, A Belmond Hotel, and Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel in Bali.

Iain Langridge worked at TUI between 2005 and 2008 as Regional Properties General Manager. He then joined Louvre Hotels Group where he was Senior Regional General Manager and then Director of International Operations. After two years with DAMAC Hotels & Resorts in Dubai, he returned to Louvre Hotels Group as COO and Head of Development – Asia-Pacific. Iain Langridge joined Belmond in 2020 as Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific division. During this time, he steered the brand's Asian properties through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Christian and Iain are both exceptional leaders with a proven track record of outstanding performance. They have a strong passion for developing and growing the next generation of hospitality talent.
