Thompson Hotels opens its first branded property in Spain

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the expansion of its Thompson Hotels brand into the Spanish market. It is a milestone for the hospitality company as it continues to grow its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Europe.

Thompson Madrid is a 175-key hotel located inside two historic buildings on Calle de la Montera, close to Madrid’s famous Puerta del Sol square with its many theatres, cinemas and shops. The hotel’s interior design was imagined by López y Tena, LYTA Interior Design & Arquitecture Studio and combines timeless design with modern amenities. Its signature penthouse offers spacious living and dining areas, a bar and a private balcony.

Three dining venues make up Thompson Madrid’s F&B offer. The Omar is an all-day bakery and bistro that serves patisseries and snacks, Thompson Madrid Rooftop provides authentic cuisine and cocktails with panoramic views across the city, and Hijos de Tomás is a speakeasy-style bar boasting an inventive cocktail menu and live piano music.

Additional amenities include 6 individual event venues that can host up to a combined 321 guests, an infinity pool with hydromassage system on the rooftop, a 24-hour fitness centre, a residential-style bar and a day club.

The hotel celebrates culture and, as such, is a part of Thompson Hotel’s Culture Lives Here platform. Artist Nicolás Villamizar will create exclusive pieces inspired by the cityf or Thompson Madrid, as well as a limited-edition map that will be given to guests at check-in. Chef Nino Redruello has been appointed as its “culinary culture shifter” and will create traditional Spanish offerings with an innovative twist. Finally, local clothing brand OTEYZA will fashion bespoke pieces to be displayed in key areas of the property.

We are excited to welcome guests to Thompson Madrid and invite them to immerse themselves into the culture of the city, which can be found inside and outside the walls of the hotel. Inspired by Madrid’s nearby “kilometer Zero,” which marks the spot all distances in Spain are measured from, all journeys start in Madrid and all authentic Madrilenian experiences for our guests begin in Thompson Madrid.
