Splendid Hospitality continues its expansion in the UK with the acquisition of the soon-to-open Mercure property. The privately-owned hospitality management company now has 23 hotels with over 2,500 keys in its portfolio.
Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House will open 5th December 2022 close to the Scottish town. Housed in a historic property, the hotel will consist of two structures: a 19th century house and its 20th century extension. It will boast 61 guestrooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a modulable events space capable of hosting up to 60 people.
The hotel is located just over 2 miles from Dumfries, on Scotland’s southwest coast. Galloway Forest Park and the English city of Carlisle can both be reached by car in under an hour.
This is an exciting time for our company. The opening of Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House signals another great partnership between Accor and Splendid Hospitality, and further cement Splendid’s versatile development plans and growth throughout the UK.
Nadeem Boghani, Owner of Splendid Hospitality
Once the family home of famous Scottish polar explorer Archibald McMurdo, Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House is a welcome addition to Mercure’s collection of locally inspired hotels across the United Kingdom. We are delighted to once again partner with Splendid Hospitality on the sixth property in their Accor portfolio, offering guests a unique glimpse into the story and culture behind this historic destination.
