The hotel will undergo multi-year renovation works starting this November, before reopening in 2025 as Rosewood Hotel Bauer.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been selected to manage the hotel once in reopens, thus strengthening the brand’s luxury offer in Europe. Hotel Bauer is owned by real estate developer SIGNA Prime Selection and located in the city’s historic San Marco district.
The 19th century hotel will close for the duration of the renovation. Locally-based architect Alberto Torsello will collaborate with interior design group, BAR Studio on the works that are expected to run from November 2022 to 2025. The building’s historic framework will be repaired and integrated into its new design, which will maintain the original façade and staircase. Sustainability is also a key aspect of the renovations, and the final product will aim to achieve the Green Pass, Klima Haus and LEED Gold certifications.
In 2025, Rosewood Hotel Bauer will have just over 110 rooms, half of which will be suites. In addition, it will boast a bistro-style restaurant and bar, a fine-dining restaurant and bar with a rooftop terrace, a rooftop event space, a wellness centre, and an outdoor pool with bar. A 2,991 m² luxury retail space will also be added to the back of the building.
Rosewood is considered one of the world’s most reputable hotel operators and the new Rosewood Hotel Bauer, directly on the Grand Canal, represents an extraordinary project that is to be completed over the coming three years. This modern ultra-luxury hotel – in combination with first-class restaurants and an impressive rooftop garden – is set to become Venice’s new centre of attraction.
Heinz Peter Hager, President of SIGNA Italia
