William Costley will be tasked with overseeing all Minor Hotels brands, including Anantara, Avani, Oaks, Tivoli, NH Hotels and NH Collection throughout Asia. In his new role, he will be based in Bangkok. Originally from Scotland and a Fellow of the UK Institute of Hospitality, Costley has accumulated years of leadership experience in the hospitality sector across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

He has attended leadership, commercial and strategic programmes at Cornell University, IMD Business School Lausanne, EHL Lausanne, University of Michigan’s executive HR strategy programme in Singapore and the London Business School over the course of his career, which spans back to 1983. He first worked in accounting for Trust House Forte, before joining Embassy Hotels as Cluster Hotel Accountant from 1989 to 1990.

In October 1990, Costley began his career at Hilton. He would stay with the global hotel group for 32 years. During this time, he managed various properties in key destinations such as London, Istanbul, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. In 2011, he was appointed Vice-President Operations South-East Asia & India, before moving to the Middle East where he occupied the same role for the Arabian Peninsula & Turkey region in 2017. Two years later, he was promoted to Senior Vice-President of Operations at Hilton. This was his final position in the group before joining Minor Hotels in September 2022.

As Minor Hotels continues on its path of regional and global expansion, we couldn’t have asked for a more experienced addition to our Asia team. William’s understanding of Asia’s hospitality and tourism sectors, his global outlook and stellar operational credentials make him the perfect choice for this crucial leadership position. We look forward to working together as the company branches out into medical tourism and brings new brands from our global portfolio to Asia Pacific.
