Marriott International has announced the elections of Lauren Hobart, President & CEO of DICK’S Sporting Goods, and Grant Reid, former President & CEO of Mars, Incorporated, to its Board of Directors, effective 15th March. The duo are expected to be included in the company’s slate of nominees for election at its upcoming 2023 annual meeting of stockholders.
Lauren Hobart was appointed President of DICK’S in 2017, she is tasked with overseeing the stores, marketing, e-commerce, technology, human resources, communications, as well as the legal and strategy & analytics organisations. In February 2021, she added to role of CEO to her position. Since 2018, she has served on the company’s Board of Directors.
Lauren Hobart began her career in 1990 and has worked notably at JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo, and Pepsi-Cola, prior to joining the sporting goods company in 2011.
Grant Reid was President and CEO of Mars for almost nine years, before retiring in June of last year. He first joined the company in 1988 and progressed through the ranks, starting from Marketing Manager to eventually becoming Global President of Mars Drinks and then of Mars Chocolate and, finally, CEO & President of Mars in 2014.
During his CEOship, Reid notably championed the company’s environmental work, launching its $1 billion Sustainable in a Generation Plan in 2017.
The two elections bring Marriott International’s Board of Directors to 14 directors, 11 of whom are independent.
