Marriott International has announced plans to open three new hotels in Romania over the next five years, in partnership with Romanian investment firm Pritax Invest. This expansion will add to Marriott's existing portfolio of six properties in the country.
The first new property, Courtyard by Marriott Sibiu Downtown, is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2026. It will offer 81 rooms, three conference rooms, a restaurant, and a spa, catering to both business and leisure travelers in the historic city of Sibiu.
In 2027, Four Points by Sheraton is set to open in Cluj-Napoca, providing 109 rooms and suites, conference spaces, and dining options in this key city in Romania's northwest region.
The Courtyard by Marriott in Timișoara, planned for 2029, will be located near Iulius Town and will include 208 rooms and suites, as well as conference facilities. This addition is expected to serve both business and leisure guests in Timișoara.
"This agreement strengthens the demand we see for international hotel brands in the region and supports the development of Marriott Bonvoy projects in Romania," - Silvija Lovreta, Vice President Development - Central and South Eastern Europe, Marriott International.
These developments are part of Marriott's continued collaboration with Pritax Invest, with whom the group previously partnered on the Courtyard by Marriott Cluj-Napoca Downtown. Marriott's expansion beyond Bucharest reflects its commitment to enhancing its presence in Romania's regional cities and catering to a broader range of travelers.
Currently, Marriott operates six hotels in Romania, including five in Bucharest.
