Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern will open on 24th September 2022, the group has announced. The new hotel will be housed within the city’s famous Belle Epoque landmark, which has undergone largescale renovation works.
The hotel will feature 136 guestrooms, including 48 suites, and most will be equipped with balconies or terraces. Two Panoramic Rooftop Terrace Suites and the 133 m² Presidential Suite will be the hotel’s crowning jewels. Four restaurants and bars ran by Michelin star chef Gilad Peled will offer Japanese, Mediterranean, Asian and French haute cuisine for guests and locals alike.
SPA Bellefontaine will provide face and body treatments and boast a sauna, a steam bath, experiential showers and a relaxation room. A fitness room will also be available 24/7 for guests. The hotel will also host events and celebrations. The Salon Alpine and Edelweiss Ballroom will offer original turn of the century décor and views over the surrounding lake respectively.
Swiss architects Iwan Bühler Architekten and London-based interior designers Jestico + Whiles are responsible for the building’s renovation. The hotel’s design will be inspired by the surrounding Alpine landscape and its location on the shores of Lake Lucerne, as well as the iconic building’s history and heritage.
Nearly three years after announcing Mandarin Oriental’s arrival in Lucerne, we are getting ready to welcome our first guests to this historic, local monument that has now been transformed. The Palace has been deeply rooted in the local community since 1906 and we look forward to welcoming the local community back to their home on the lake.
