The luxury goods group has announced the acquisition of the Hotel Florhof in Zurich. After closing in July 2022, the property will undergo renovation works before reopening in early 2024 as Villa Florhof. Lalique will manage the new establishment and restaurant as leaseholder.
Lalique Group acquired the former family-owned business alongside Peter Spuhler of Stadler Rail. The hotel will be renovated and redesigned over the next year in keeping with Lalique’s signature style. The work and reopening will be supervised by hotel manager, Tanja Wegmann.
The site’s vaulted wine cellar will remain, however a bar and terrace as well as a living room and smoker’s lounge will be created on the ground floor. A restaurant will take up residence on the first floor and the upper floors will host 15 guestrooms.
The best properties aren’t found – they find you. I have long been fascinated by the charming Florhof in this imposing building, and the opportunity to purchase it has now presented itself. We are delighted that we will be able to continue to run the Villa Florhof as a hotel and restaurant for the people of Zurich and visitors from around the world – combining the history of the city with the flair of Lalique.
Silvio Denz, Chairman & Majority Shareholder of Lalique Group
For me too, this purchase is a matter of the heart, since I grew up not far from the Hotel Florhof and feel connected to the area and this magnificent building. This is a dream property where we want to create a unique atmosphere for guests – blending tradition with the future and delivering exceptional hospitality.
Peter Spuhler, CEO of Stadler Rail Group
