Javier Águila, Hyatt

In the coming months, he will replace Peter Fulton who is retiring after 39 years with Hyatt. The two men will work together to ensure a smooth transition.

A graduate of Columbia Business School, Javier Águila got his start at McKinsey & Company. After executive roles at Booz Allen, The Carlyle Group and Orizonia, he founded Alua Hotels & Resorts in 2014. Four years later, following the acquisition of Alua by Apple Leisure Group, he became President of Europe at ALG.

Most recently serving as Group President of ALG, AMResorts Europe and Global Strategy, Javier Águila’s appointment will be an internal one at Hyatt, following its acquisition of ALG last year. It also comes with a geographical realignment for the EMEA region by the hotel chain. David Udell, President of the Asia Pacific Group, will now oversee the Indian subcontinent.

Javier's appointment is another important step in the realisation of Hyatt and ALG's shared vision. […] Javier is the ideal candidate to continue the region's positive trajectory and lead the team to new heights.
