IHG Unveils Expanded Suite Options

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), has introduced new prototype variations for its suite brands - Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, and Atwell Suites.

The new prototype options, available for all three brands, provide developers with supplemental design choices to optimize space and maximize revenue potential. These options, which complement existing designs, accommodate different property types such as new builds, conversions, dual brands, or adaptive reuse properties.

While specific dimensions and key counts may vary, the new designs prioritize retaining brand identity and guest-centric features. Key components of the new designs include:

  • For Staybridge Suites: The implementation of the Smart Studio room layout, tailored for shorter-stay guests, offers a slimmer room bay with kitchen equipment and fixtures, maintaining designated work, sleep, and relaxation zones.
  • For Candlewood Suites: The Beacon 4.2 variation optimizes land usage and building density with slimmer room bays containing an equipped kitchen and signature recliner, along with flexible room mixes and designated social areas. Furthermore, this prototype offers the potential to add more keys on similarly sized sites.
  • For Atwell Suites: Developers have the possibility to choose between two lobby configurations, with a new centrally loaded model available alongside the existing two-story design. Additionally, a slimmer room bay option includes a wet bar, sofa, and work desk, allowing for increased keys on similarly sized sites.

“IHG continues to build on our nearly three decades of leadership in the extended stay and suites space by evolving our prototype designs to increase owner value while offering the spaces and amenities short- and long-term travelers value most. Our new concepts reflect guest and owner feedback, and enable new and existing owners to deliver our modern suite experiences – in various forms – to more markets without compromising consistency or quality.”- Kevin Schramm, SVP of Development, Mainstream Brands – U.S. and Canada at IHG.

These new prototype options, expected to be available by Q2 2024, will initially be open to U.S. properties, with potential future adoption in other regions. The first properties featuring these designs are anticipated to open as early as 2025.
