Hotel Indigo has announced the opening of its new property in the south of England following a major renovation project on the existing site.
Hotel Indigo Exeter is housed in a former department store, which has undergone a multi-million-pound transformation. The site was first constructed as Colson’s Department Store in 1792. The current structure was built in a 1930s modernist style and served previously as a House of Fraser.
The new 104-key property pays homage to the history of Exeter. Its rooms are designed around three themes that reflect the character of the surrounding area: The House That Moved, Colson's Department Store, and Cathedral Heritage.
The property boasts varied F&B options with Colson’s Bar and Restaurant, Becketts rooftop bar offering views across Exeter Cathedral, and The Dugout Sports Bar. Additionally, The Retreat Spa provides four treatment rooms, two hydrotherapy pools, a gym, a sauna, a steam room, a nail bar, and a lounge serving Champagne.
Hotel Indigo Exeter will be managed by Castlebridge Hospitality who already manage three of the brand’s properties in the UK. The hotel will be owned by Hotel Exe Limited.
This is another exciting opening for the Hotel Indigo brand. The southwest of England has always been a draw for visitors due to the unique city neighbourhood and character of Exeter itself. Hotel Indigo Exeter will draw on all those hallmarks to ensure our guests experience the true local flavour of the area in each stay at the hotel. The Hotel Indigo brand has experienced a great 2022 with strong growth globally, with local openings such as this in Exeter a key driver for that growth.
