One rooftop, two experiences

Hospitality ON contacted candidates from the 2022 edition of the Hospitality Awards to discover why they decided to submit their project, what benefits it has brought them and how they hope to see their idea grow. Discover One rooftop, two experiences, InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hôtel’s submission for the Best F&B&E Concept category.

Hospitality ON: Why did you submit your project for the Hospitality Awards?

InterContinental Bordeaux: The Hospitality Awards was an obvious choice for us, as receiving an award from this organisation is a real guarantee of quality, especially for our project which we have been working on for years. It is a guarantee that highlights quality and innovation. Moreover, it is an award with worldwide recognition, having mostly a foreign clientele. This is a plus for our establishment.

Why did you choose to put in place this project?

We decided to submit this project because it represented a real innovation within the Rooftop. Rooftops are practically closed in France, and this type of structure is only present once in our establishment. We wanted to create a pop-up wine bar on a winter rooftop. In addition, each year, for the summer version, we innovate by choosing a theme that echoes the region's strengths.

What have been the benefits of it to your company?

This project has allowed us to create a new winter meeting place for the people of Bordeaux. In addition, a change of theme allows connoisseurs of the rooftop to rediscover it and live an even more immersive experience.

How do you hope to see your project grow from here?

We hope to see this project continue and build an even more complete offer for lunches. We want to make it one of the unmissable spots in Bordeaux and France.

What inspiration have you taken from the other projects in your category?

In particular that of our colleague from the Kimpton, with his restaurant Montecito, a sophisticated Californian brasserie in Paris. This concept brings a different vision of the typical brasserie that we could bring to our own.

Is it important to have industry awards, in your opinion?

Receiving industry awards is important because it promotes the image of the hotel establishment, and gains credibility. Many professionals and clients base their decisions on awards bestowed by the hotel industry. They are an important guarantee of quality that should not be underestimated.
