B&B HOTELS continues its rapid expansion in the French market with the acquisition of 22 hotels previously operated by Grape Hospitality.
This transaction strengthens B&B HOTELS' presence across nine key regions in France, including Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Île-de-France, Occitanie, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, adding a total of 1,797 rooms to its portfolio. This acquisition supports B&B HOTELS' strategy to reach 600 hotels in France, enhancing its position as a key player in the budget hotel segment.
“The simultaneous opening of 22 hotels, perfectly complementary to our current network, is an important step for us. It fits in perfectly with our growth strategy, to achieve our ambition: to become the leader in the budget hotel market in France, while working to make stays more responsible, and offering our customers, in all our hotels, the essentials at the best price” - MarineCharles, Managing Director of B&B HOTELS Western Europe.
Grape Hospitality, majority-owned by Eurazeo with a 70% stake, manages a diverse portfolio of 85 hotels across seven European countries. This portfolio includes economy to upscale properties, with 22 hotels under franchise agreements and over 10,000 rooms. The decision to sell the 22 hotels is part of Grape Hospitality's strategy to refocus on the upper midscale and upscale segments. This transaction, which aligns with its strategic realignment, allows Grape Hospitality to concentrate on more premium offerings while realizing significant value from the sale.
The sale of these properties reflects Eurazeo’s strategy, allowing Grape Hospitality to shift its focus to more upscale properties. The sale represents a significant premium over the value previously recorded on Eurazeo’s balance sheet, underscoring the operational and asset management excellence of Grape Hospitality. The strategic refocusing will enable Grape to continue developing its portfolio through high-value operational and real estate repositioning.
This acquisition, made in collaboration with Swiss Life Asset Managers France, aligns with B&B HOTELS' growth strategy. The company aims to launch nearly 50 new or acquired hotels across France, Switzerland, and Belgium this year. B&B HOTELS is focused on expanding its network to provide guests with affordable and accessible accommodations at the best value. These new additions bring its network to over 450 hotels in Western Europe. As the first hotel chain certified for sustainable development by SOCOTEC, B&B HOTELS continues to strengthen its role in the budget hotel sector.
