Barcelo 2022

After being severely impacted in 2020 by the health crisis, like the entire hospitality sector, the Barceló Group is now reporting a green performance in its 2022 annual report.

As a result, in 2022 the Barceló Group surpassed the results achieved in 2019, with sales of €5,729.8 million, up from €4,779.3 million in the year before the pandemic, and approaching double that achieved in 2021. The report also states that net sales amounted to €3,553.7 million, which is also much higher than the successful pre-pandemic year, when they were €2,850.3 million.

In terms of EBITDA, the company has set itself the target of €309 million in 2022, compared with €342.6 million in 2019, making up for the shortfall accumulated during 2020 and 2021. Moreover, the Group's net financial debt in 2022 will be €205.3 million, compared with €197.4 million in 2019, with a financial debt/EBITDA ratio of €0.7 million almost identical to that of the last pre-pandemic year, when it was €0.6 million.

The occupancy rate stood at 67.6%, compared with 74.9% in 2019, and although lower than in the last pre-pandemic year, it remains well above 2021 (49%) and 2020 (31.9%). With an average daily rate of €97.1, well above the €79.7 achieved in 2019. And a RevPAR of 65.6 euros, also higher than the reference year, when it stood at 59.7 euros.

Among the milestones highlighted by the Group in its report is the early repayment of the €320 million loan it took out with Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) in December 2022, as part of our strategy to strengthen our financial and operational autonomy.
