Barceló Hotel Group has opened its first hotel in the Algarve region of Portugal, marking a important step in its expansion within the country.

The new Occidental Faro hotel is located in the city of Faro, offering 89 rooms and a range of facilities including a rooftop heated pool, wellness area, and spaces for meetings and events. The hotel, which occupies a building renovated in 2017, will be managed under the Occidental brand.

Located near Faro’s historic attractions and the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the hotel provides both business and leisure travelers with a central base to explore the area. It features a gastronomic offering that includes a bar and an à la carte restaurant specializing in Portuguese cuisine.

This expansion builds on Barceló’s existing presence in Madeira, where it operates three hotels. The group continues to strengthen its footprint in Portugal, following a €50 million investment in the renovation and acquisition of its properties on the island.

With this new addition, Barceló Hotel Group furthers its goal to grow in key European destinations, particularly those with high tourist appeal like Portugal, enhancing its portfolio with both leisure and business-oriented amenities.
