Sommet Education, the network of higher education schools specializing in hospitality and culinary arts training, and Invictus Education Group, a South African education group, announced on April 21, 2021 that Sommet Education has acquired a majority stake in Invictus alongside its historical shareholders.

Following the acquisition of École Ducasse in 2019, the acquisition of Invictus Education Group represents a new milestone for Sommet Education, increasing the number of its campuses worldwide from 9 to 17 and the number of its students from 6,000 to 9,000.
Sommet Education's strategy is based on expansion through the acquisition of leading local and regional education brands.

Invictus Education Group is a tremendous success story in the African education landscape. The group has a 25-year history on the continent, a diverse portfolio of educational institutions, and an extensive digital program offering. The ambitious and experienced management team is raising the profile of Invictus on a national and continental scale. Invictus has the potential to carry all our ambitions in the region and beyond.

Benoît Etienne Domenget, CEO of Sommet Education

Together, Sommet Education and Invictus Education plan to develop new campuses for International Hotel School and a new SAE campus. The first project, currently under construction, will be based in Benoni, South Africa, and will open in July. It will be followed in 2022 by other campuses in South Africa: Nelspruit, Potchefstroom, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.

Sommet Education is the international partner we needed to bring our ideas and expansion plan to life. This alliance will give our students access to a global network of alumni and industry partners with diverse learning and career paths, providing them with many more opportunities for international education and growth.

Mike Lambert, Founder and CEO of Invictus

In addition to their expansion plans, the two partners are looking to develop synergies in four key areas:

  • Curriculum development and faculty expertise to support the expansion of Invictus' proposed license,
  • The further development of the culinary arts and pastry program portfolio by leveraging École Ducasse's expertise,
  • The transfer of Invictus' knowledge and experience in training, development and consulting to companies,
  • The collaboration and sharing of knowledge, experience and ideas between the two partners around online education programs and platforms.
