Hot on the heels of the Hospitality Operator Forum, we turn the spotlight on one of the sector's most pressing issues: recruiting and retaining staff. What are the employment expectations of the younger generation? What initiatives can be deployed to meet them? Dominique Marcel, Chairman of Alliance France Tourisme, will share the findings of a study into the tourism practices, expectations and aspirations of 18-34 year-olds living in France. The study confirmed a number of trends, but also challenged a number of preconceived ideas.

His presentation will be followed by a round-table discussion featuring :

  • Frédéric Picard, the new Managing Director of Glion Institut of Higher Education. Before taking over as Managing Director of GIHE (Glion, Bulle, London), Frédéric Picard spent his career in the luxury hotel industry, both in Europe and internationally. After studying hospitality management and graduating with a master’s degree in international hotel management, Frédéric has worked for some of the world’s leading hotel groups such as Le Méridien Bangkok, Intercontinental Paris, Jumeirah Dubaï, Kerzner International Morocco, Oetker Collection and La Réserve Paris. His career has always been marked by exciting projects and he has participated in the opening of 7 hotels around the world, which has allowed him to develop his managerial leadership skills.
  • Caroline Ellul, alumni and founder of French Luxury. She is a consultant and trainer in hospitality and service quality in the hotel and luxury sectors. Caroline is also the former Director of the Masters and MBA programmes in Luxury, Art Market and Cultural Management at EAC Paris and a doctoral student in Political Science on the subject of "The impact of education on tourism in a context of post-Covid economic reconstruction".
  • Ashok Som, is full-Professor of the Management Department at ESSEC Business School. He is one of the pioneering thought leaders in designing organizations and an expert in global strategy. He is author of more than 110 cases, articles and books, such as The Road to Luxury: The New Frontiers in Luxury Brand Management (Wiley 2021, 2nd Edition), The Road to Luxury: The Evolution, Markets and Strategies of Luxury Brand Management (Wiley, 2015, translated in Mandarin in 2016), International Management: Managing the Global Corporation (McGraw Hill, 2009) and Organization Re-design and Innovative HRM (Oxford University Press, 2008). He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and Habilation from CY University, Paris.

Alban Sucrot, winner, with his team, of the Young Talent Awards in 2022 for the challenge launched by IHG. He is currently an assistant revenue manager at Paris Society. How does Alban see his future career in the sector and what are his expectations?
