Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul – An Enchanting Retreat On The Bosphorus Strait

Located on the Europe side of the glistening Bosphorus Strait, Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul is an enchanting retreat in the financial and entertainment district of Besiktas of the Capital of Empires. The hotel yields breath-taking views of the deep blue Bosphorus Strait as guestrooms and restaurants look out to the Asian side of the storied waterway.

The hotel is a modern oasis, taking design cues from the glamorous Dolmabahçe Palace with swathes of marble, glittering chandeliers and a mix of European, Asian and Turkish design. A grand staircase wends down the hotel’s three-story atrium, transporting guests from the lobby to the elegant ballrooms and other venues below. Dazzling to behold, the dome-shaped atrium is lit by a natural skylight and massive Bohemian chandelier that rains crystals nearly two storeys. Also decorating the atrium is The Garden of Peach Blossoms, a stunning 18-metres-tall silk painting, which was commissioned for the hotel. The hotel showcases more than 1,000 pieces of European and Asian art. One masterpiece, located behind the reception desk, is an exquisite southern China lacquer craft carving depicting a Bosphorus water scene.

The hotel welcomes international travellers to its 186 rooms consisting of 169 guestrooms and 17 suites fitted with warm, blue and grey tones that accentuate the beautiful surroundings. Guests can find exciting dining options at the hotel’s four restaurants and bars, and elevated relaxation at CHI, The Spa with hammam facilities, customized massages and organic products. Engaging occasions transform into memories in the hotel’s two ballrooms and nine versatile conference and function rooms.

Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul, is ideally located between Dolmabahçe Palace, where chandelier-accented rooms built for Ottoman sultans astonish with their opulence, and the Navy Museum on the European shore of the Bosphorus Strait. Set within the Besiktas district, the shopping and transport hub of Istanbul, the hotel is close to the city's financial district and the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Centre. Shopping enthusiasts can find excitement in modern luxuries at the upscale boutiques of Nişantaşı and the popular Grand Bazaar.

The hotel is a 45 to 60 minute drive from Istanbul Airport and a 60 to 75 minute drive from Sabiha Gokcen International Airport. In addition, the Port of Galata, a terminal for luxury cruise ships, is less than 4 kilometres (about half a mile) from the hotel.
