Presented at the 16th ceremony of the Worldwide Hospitality Awards, the Best Iconic Employee award was attributed to an employee at a hotel who has marked his profession and his hotel with the exemplariness of his or her professional experience, the recognition of guests and the quality of services provided.
At the last ceremony of the Worldwide Hospitality Awards, Ömer Gezer received the award for Best Iconic Employee, for the quality of his work managing the bar at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof hotel. The trophy was presented by Gérard Darmon.
The winner was selected for the unique quality of his professional experience, his success throughout his career and recognition by his peers. Ömer Gezer arrived in Frankfurt, Germany 42 years ago, after graduating from the Ankara School of Hotel Management. At the time he did not speak a word of German, nor was he familiar with the country. Nonetheless, the young man successfully began his career with an internship during which he proved his talents in service and his personal qualities. Ömer Gezer thus became a permanent employee at the property, and then he progressively climbed the ladder to become bar manager at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof hotel.
Werner Küchler, director of the Relais Plaza, and Witold Stebner, confectioner at the Mercure Poznan, were also finalists at the ceremony. Read their applications: Hospitality ON.
